Abu Dhabi: The UAE has strongly criticized the Israeli attack on Al-Tabin School in Gaza, which resulted in the deaths of 12 people and left hundreds injured. The UAE declared that such attacks on civilians are a clear violation of the laws of war and called for immediate measures to deliver aid to those affected.
The UAE urged that humanitarian workers must not be hindered, and an immediate ceasefire should be declared to prevent further loss of life. It emphasized the importance of adhering to international agreements and laws, and called for an end to attacks targeting civilians.
The UAE also appealed to the international community to intervene to prevent the situation from worsening further. The Arab League condemned the attack on the school, which was functioning as a relief camp, describing Israel’s actions as cowardly and shameful. Arab League Secretary-General Ahmed Aboul Gheit called for an immediate ceasefire and the release of detainees.
The Muslim Council of Elders also condemned the Israeli aggression. The Grand Imam of Al-Azhar, Dr. Ahmed Al-Tayeb, stated that the attack on the relief camp was unjustifiable and called for an end to the violence, urging immediate medical assistance for the wounded.
Pressure is mounting on Israel to resume ceasefire talks. The UAE, Qatar, Egypt, and the US jointly called on Israel to resume negotiations for a ceasefire in Gaza and to release prisoners. In a joint statement, Qatar’s Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, Egyptian President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi, and US President Joe Biden urged a final agreement on the Israel-Hamas ceasefire.
The concern over escalating conflict in the Middle East has led these nations to press Israel and Hamas for a ceasefire, with the UAE emphasizing that it is essential to end the suffering of the people in Gaza without delay. Israel has assured mediating countries that discussions can resume on the 15th.
