Abu Dhabi: In an effort to make healthcare services further accessible to all community members, the Department of Health – Abu Dhabi (DoH) has revealed that from 25th July 2022, COVID-19 vaccines and PCR tests will be available in pharmacies.
While COVID-19 vaccines will be provided free of cost, PCR tests will be charged at $10.89.
Phase 1 of the program will see community members taking PCR tests and COVID-19 vaccines being offered to those eligible over the age of 18 at the pharmacies. Later, more services including other types of vaccinations, such as the seasonal flu vaccine and various travel vaccines are expected to be added to the pharmacies.
The DoH Undersecretary further added that, “We encourage more pharmacies to take part in the national vaccination efforts to ensure this service reaches all the community. We are also working towards including other types of vaccinations in pharmacies to enhance the safety of individuals and facilitate the accessibility of these services.”
Numerous pharmacies have already completed courses certified by the DoH to administer these vaccinations.
Further, the pharmacies receive the authorization which is then added to their license based on the Department’s regulations and standards. The Department will provide the list of licensed pharmacies through its dedicated page (hyperlink to: www.doh.gov.ae/en/Abu-Dhabi-pharmacies).
The Department has urged the pharmacies who wishes to provide COVID-19 vaccines and PCR tests to apply and add specialty application through TAMM platform.
