Sharjah: The pertinent matter of Ocean Conservation received the much-needed spotlight as region’s leading photography event, the Xposure International Photography Festival launched its first-ever Conservation Summit.
Organized under the theme of ‘Saving our Oceans’, the new initiative by the Festival will explore hope and solutions for safeguarding the precious biodiversity of the global marine ecosystems.

The day-long Summit, dedicated to ocean conservation and visual storytelling was honored by the esteemed presence of H.H. Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Deputy Ruler of Sharjah and Chairman of Sharjah Media Council.
Organized in partnership with the International League of Conservation Photographers at the Expo Centre Sharjah, the opened with a short video highlighting the incredible beauty and diversity of the ocean’s creatures found across the diverse climatic terrains of the planet.
Mr. Brian Skerry, Mr. David Doubilet, Ms. Jennifer Hayes, Mr. Jeffrey Garriock, and Mr. Laurent Ballesta, explorers from the National Geographic used the summit floor to share their inspiring experiences with audiences at the summit.
These explorers, with more than 80,000 hours of combined underwater experience, have witnessed the beauty and the devastation happening across all ocean ecosystems and have accumulated more than 80,000 hours combined underwater documenting changes.
