Abu Dhabi: On Emirati Women’s Day, celebrated annually on August 28th, Noura Al Suwaidi, Secretary-General of the General Women’s Union (GWU), emphasised the unwavering support Emirati women have received from the UAE’s wise leadership since the nation’s founding.
Al Suwaidi expressed her profound gratitude to H.H. Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, known as the Mother of the Nation, for her pivotal role in empowering Emirati women. As Chairwoman of the General Women’s Union, President of the Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood, and Supreme Chairwoman of the Family Development Foundation (FDF), Sheikha Fatima has been instrumental in enhancing the role of women in society.
“Her Highness Sheikha Fatima has played a fundamental and effective role in empowering and enhancing the role of women in society,” stated Al Suwaidi, highlighting how Sheikha Fatima has become a global model for women’s empowerment, inspiring them to seize opportunities and contribute to their nation’s progress.
Al Suwaidi also noted that Emirati Women’s Day celebrates the deep respect and recognition Emirati women enjoy in the UAE, acknowledging their vital contributions to the country’s development and its emergence as a global leader.
In her message, Al Suwaidi extended her appreciation to all Emirati women, commending their exceptional roles and pioneering efforts. “Emirati women have consistently demonstrated their efficiency, excellence, and dedication in all endeavours,” she remarked, underscoring their key role in the nation’s renaissance.
