Dubai: The Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratization (MoHRE) in partnership with public and private sector organizations, declared that 6,000 rest areas will be made available for delivery service employees across the UAE.
In order to make it easier for employees to find and visit these stations during the Midday Break, which runs from June 15 to September 15, 2024, an interactive map of these sites will be provided. This program is a component of the Ministry’s endeavors to guarantee the well-being and security of delivery service employees, as well as to give them a secure workplace.
The MoHRE, the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) of Dubai, the Integrated Transport Center in Abu Dhabi, the departments of economic development throughout the United Arab Emirates, and delivery services including Talabat, Deliveroo, Noon, Careem, and others are collaborating on the program. For delivery service drivers, there will also be plenty of eateries, malls, retail establishments, and cloud kitchens that will provide rest spots.
In a press statement, the Ministry stated that, “Delivery services are a key logistical sector, unique in nature, given that its workers do not stay in one place while the Midday Break is enforced, and due to the nature of certain materials being transported that need to be delivered on time.”
This innovative move is an extension of the program that was started the previous year, when 365 rest areas were made available to delivery personnel, particularly during the Midday Break, which runs from 12:30 to 3:00 pm.
Reports of any infractions of the Midday Break are received by the MoHRE via its website, smart application, and phone center.
