Umm Al Quwain: The Ministry of Culture has successfully concluded the fifth edition of its month-long Summer Camp, which commenced in early July. The camp provided a platform for community members to enhance their knowledge, strengthen their national identity, and forge stronger cultural connections, contributing to a brighter future for the UAE.
The closing event took place at the Umm Al Quwain Creative Cultural Centre, with Sheikh Abdullah bin Saud bin Rashid Al Mualla, Chairman of the Department of Finance of Umm Al Quwain, Mubarak Al Nakhi, Undersecretary of the UAE Ministry of Culture, and other prominent figures in attendance.
The Summer Camp saw participation from over 18,500 individuals across various age groups, ranging from six to sixty and beyond. The program included 427 activities, highlighted 223 talented individuals, and featured 56 developmental sessions aimed at enhancing participants’ skills. A team of 165 trainers and volunteers facilitated the camp, working alongside 287 partner organizations.
Mubarak Al Nakhi, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Culture, stated, “Through our Summer Camp this year, we reached different segments of society to offer them an integrated knowledge platform. The camp aimed to provide all-round development through a comprehensive program and diverse activities that build skills and enhance knowledge. This edition has been enriched with our experiences from previous years to offer participants new sources of knowledge and strengthen their value system.”
He further emphasized, “The Summer Camp is a valuable platform for investing in individuals’ capabilities, raising awareness, and nurturing talents. It works towards building a strong national identity and connects participants to their heritage while enhancing their scientific capacity and knowledge. We have implemented various methods to build skills as part of our efforts to prepare participants for contributing positively to nation-building.”
The 2024 Summer Camp successfully ran at several cultural and creative centers across the Emirates, including Fujairah, Ras Al Khaimah, Ajman, Umm Al Quwain, and Abu Dhabi, offering a range of artistic, knowledge-based, cultural, and heritage programs.
