Taif: UAE National Team sprinter Maryam Karim won at the 10th edition of the Arab Junior Athletics Championship (under 18), held in Taif, Saudi Arabia. The talented athlete delivered a stunning performance in the 200-meter sprint, finishing with a time that not only secured her the top spot but also set a new personal best. Karim’s impressive win comes just a day after she captured her first gold medal in the 100-meter sprint at the same championship.
Major-General Dr. Muhammad Abdullah Al-Murr, President of the UAE Athletics Federation, attended the medal ceremony with officials from the tournament’s organizing committee. The event, which wrapped up this evening, featured 400 athletes from 18 countries.
The Arab Athletics Championship for Juniors, brought together some of the best young athletes from across the region. Karim’s achievements have been met with widespread acclaim and have set high expectations for her future in the sport.
Karim has an impressive track record of gold medal wins, including triumphs at the first Gulf Youth Games ‘UAE 2024’ and the Arab Championship in Egypt earlier this year in April and May.
Karim secured the gold with a record-setting time of 24.30 seconds, breaking UAE national records across women’s, youth, and junior categories. She also led the semi-final with a top time of 24.67 seconds.
