Abu Dhabi: The 2nd Day of Competitions of the Al Wathba Final Annual Camel Races Festival (Wathba 2022) received a massive boost as H.H. Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Presidential Affairs paved visit to the venue.
Before arriving at Al Wathba, Abu Dhabi to witness the spectacle, Sheikh Mansour attended a luncheon held by Sheikh Sultan bin Hamdan Al Nahyan, Adviser to the UAE President and Chairman of the Organizing Committee of Sheikh Zayed Festival in Al Wathba. The gathering also witnessed the participation of numerous camel owners from the UAE and Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries.
Wathba 2022 has already garnered much fanfare with many camel racing lovers taking part at the event. The audience at the Festival have also praised the significant support for heritage sport provided by the UAE’s leadership, and the valuable prizes, commending the country’s successes in this area.
AL WATHBA FINAL ANNUAL CAMEL RACES FESTIVAL
One of the key heritage races held in Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries, the Festival is seen as the foundation of all similar camel races in the region dating back 42 years ago, and continuing the legacy of the late Founding Father, Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan.
The festival was inaugurated in 1980, and camel owners are keen to participate, given its history and heritage.
Speaking on the occasion, Sheikh Mansour thanked the audience for attending and supporting camel races.
