UAE-based retail giant Majid Al Futtaim is expanding its people development program which aims to offer thousands of career opportunities for UAE citizens in various sectors as part of the government’s federal NAFIS program.
The retail conglomerate will hire 3,000 Emiratis aiming to build their careers in the private sector, within the next five years, in line with the NAFIS program’s objectives to enhance public and private sector partnerships in order to boost the long-term development of the workforce.
The plans to improve partnership is a welcome step in inviting the private sector to contribute more actively towards achieving the objectives of UAE’s ‘Projects of the 50’. The NAFIS program also aims at making private-sector jobs more attractive to the Emiratis.
The UAE nationals who wish to join Majid Al Futtaim under the NAFIS program can apply at the dedicated web page. Currently, 3 percent of the 13,700 people the company employs in the UAE are Emiratis. The Emiratisation at Majid Al Futtaim is ahead of the program’s first-year target of 2 percent and it is on track to meet the program’s second-year goals.

In addition to the talent development programs, the retail giant’s human capital strategy targets recruiting, developing and promoting new local talent. The company’s Tomouhi Graduate Program focuses on a Train-to-Hire process and it looks to support Emirati graduates build their careers.
The company, by partnering with NAFIS partners like the Emirati Talent Competitiveness Council, will launch several programs aimed at attracting Emiratis to the private sector.
