Al Dhafra: The Liwa Sports Club has opened registration for the highly anticipated Liwa International Festival 2025, set to take place from 13th December 2024 to 4th January 2025 in the iconic Moreeb Dune area.
Known as one of Abu Dhabi’s exclusive winter attractions, the annual festival blends adventure, heritage, and breathtaking desert experiences. This year’s event is predicted to welcome over 3,000 athletes and competitors from across the UAE and the region, underscoring its status as a top destination for sports enthusiasts.
Abdullah Al Qubaisi, Chairman of Liwa Sports Club, highlighted the packed program of 16 sporting events, combining thrill and tradition. Al Qubaisi stated that, “The Liwa International Festival showcases the perfect harmony of adventure and heritage while delivering a platform for participants to compete and excel.”
Among the key sporting attractions is the globally renowned Moreeb Hill Climb Championship, a challenge of both strength and endurance, alongside drag races and freestyle drift and burnout championships that test control and creativity. Heritage sports such as the Falcon Racing Championship and the Pigeon Lure Competition add cultural importance to the festival’s diverse lineup.
Other events include horse and camel races, seamlessly blending tradition with competitive spirit, and the Sand Drift Championship, offering participants a thrilling driving experience over the dunes. Visitors can also enjoy daily signature Liwa Sand Activities and spectacular Monster Truck shows.
The festival promises to deliver an attractive and safe environment for participants and spectators, especially Emirati youth, to research the unique blend of sports and culture set against the stunning backdrop of the UAE’s tallest dune.
