Dubai: Astronomy enthusiasts are invited to witness one of nature’s most spectacular celestial events, the Leonids Meteor Shower 2025, taking place on November 17, from 10:00 pm to 2:00 am at Al Qudra Desert, Dubai.

Organized by the Al Thuraya Astronomy Center, the event promises an enchanting night under the stars, complete with educational talks, sky mapping, and live telescope observations.

The Leonids, active every November, will peak this year with up to 15 meteors per hour streaking across the dark, moonless sky. Named after the constellation Leo, the shower occurs as Earth passes through debris left behind by Comet Tempel-Tuttle, which orbits the Sun every 33 years.

Participants can enjoy a carefully curated program that begins with an event introduction at 10:15 pm, followed by a special talk on the Leonids Meteor Shower at 10:45 pm. At 11:30 pm, guests will embark on a sky mapping session, exploring captivating stories behind the constellations.

A Q&A session at midnight will offer visitors a chance to deepen their understanding of the night sky. Throughout the night, telescopes will be available for observing celestial objects, with opportunities for phone photography through the lenses.

The ticket prices are set at AED 150 ($40.84) for general admission and AED 125 ($34.03) for children under 13. For astronomy lovers seeking a peaceful escape and a mesmerizing cosmic experience, this desert event promises a night to remember. Interested participants can register through the official website of the Dubai Astronomy Group (DAG).
