Abu Dhabi: Khalifa University of Science and Technology has achieved a prestigious milestone, securing a position among the global top 10 universities in research impact as per Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) rankings.
According to SciVal analytics data, the recognition highlights the university’s exceptional quality of research output, with publications prominently featured in top-tier journals and demonstrating outstanding citation impact.
Stellar Research Metrics
In 2024, over 57 percent of Khalifa University’s publications were featured in the top 10 percent of international scientific journals. These papers achieved a higher-than-average citation ratio when benchmarked against the top 10 QS-ranked universities.

Between 2022 and 2024, the university published an impressive 7,018 papers, attaining a Field-Weighted Citation Impact (FWCI) score of 2.21. This means Khalifa University’s research receives more than double the global average citations for similar studies, underscoring its influence in the academic world.
Khalifa University continues to lead in producing high-quality research across STEM disciplines, with international collaborations comprising over 76 percent of its partnerships. The institution’s robust research framework is supported by 13 specialized research centers, seven core labs, and four research groups, all contributing to its global prominence.

The university’s faculty has also garnered international acclaim, with 15 scholars ranked among the top 0.05 percent globally and 29 in the top 0.5 percent worldwide, as per ScholarGPS.
Additionally, 112 faculty members are featured in the Stanford University-Elsevier Top 2 percent Scientists List for 2024, marking Khalifa University’s continued dominance in UAE rankings. On the innovation front, Khalifa University leads the nation with 300 issued patents and more than 700 pending applications.
