Makkah: Dr. Omar Habtoor Al Darei, Chairman of the General Authority of Islamic Affairs, Endowments and Zakat, represented the UAE at the 9th Conference of Ministers of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs in Islamic Countries held in Makkah, Saudi Arabia.
Organized by Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Islamic Affairs, Dawah, and Guidance, the two-day conference focused on the theme “Role of Endowments and Islamic Affairs Ministries in Promoting and Consolidating the Principles and Values of Moderation.” The event gathered Islamic leaders from over 60 countries, including ministers, muftis, and heads of Islamic organizations.
In his address during the second session, Dr. Al Darei highlighted the UAE’s commitment to promoting tolerance as a key national strategy. He emphasized the importance of early awareness and vigilance against potential threats to societal harmony, advocating for effective monitoring systems.
“Tolerance leads to positive outcomes,” Dr. Al Darei stated, “and serves as a common ground where all religions and cultures can collaborate. A strong national framework is essential for fostering successful tolerance.”
