Abu Dhabi: The Abu Dhabi Public Health Centre (ADPHC) will host the 25th International Union for Health Promotion and Education (IUHPE) World Conference from May 13-16, 2025. This marks the first time the conference will be held in the Middle East.
The conference will bring together policymakers, industry experts, healthcare practitioners, and educators from around the world to address global health and wellbeing challenges and identify solutions for health promotion and education. ADPHC, a key member of IUHPE, will provide a strategic forum for discussion, information sharing, and improvement of health policy.
Acting Director General of ADPHC, His Excellency Dr. Ahmed AlKhazraji, highlighted the importance of the event, stating that it promotes international collaboration and sustainable development in the health sector. He expressed pride in hosting the IUHPE World Conference in Abu Dhabi, stated that, “The selection of Abu Dhabi as the host for this esteemed conference reflects the emirate’s commitment to excellence in health and its contribution to enhancing global health systems.”
Dr. AlKhazraji added that, ”The conference will facilitate unprecedented stakeholder participation from local and global health ecosystems, fostering collaborations to propose solutions for building health promotion systems for a better future. As a strategic partner for this esteemed conference, ADPHC looks forward to contributing to the global health conversation and working with international leaders to address common health challenges.”
The IUHPE World Conference aims to advance global health through education, community engagement, and development of public health policies. It will address pressing global health challenges, including pandemics, noncommunicable diseases, mental health problems, and climate change.
IUHPE President Sione Tu’itahi commented that, “Given the environmental, economic, and social challenges threatening the wellbeing of the planet and its peoples, IUHPE greatly values its collaboration with ADPHC to co-host our 25th World Conference on Health Promotion. We work together with our members, such as ADPHC, and partners, like the World Health Organization, to contribute health promotion solutions to the poly-crisis we face as one planet and one human family with a common future.”
The previous IUHPE World Conference was held online in May 2022, focusing on promoting policies for health, wellbeing, and equity amidst the COVID-19 pandemic, geopolitical conflicts, strained public health systems, and climate change-related events.
Dr Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, Director General, World Health Organization; Dr Rüdiger Krech, Director for Health Promotion, World Health Organization; Dr Cindy Blackstock, member of the Gitxsan First Nation, Executive Director, First Nations Child and Family Caring Society &Professor, McGill University’s School of Social Work; Sandro Galea, Dean and Robert A. Knox Professor, Boston University School of Public Health; Karine Gentelet, Professor in the Department of Social Sciences, Université du Québec en Outaouais and Abeona-ENS-OBVIA Chair on Artificial Intelligence and Social Justice are some of the key speakers at the conference. Many other internationally renowned speakers will also be addressing important issues including the policies needed to promote health and wellbeing equitably.
