Paris: Noura Al Kaabi, the UAE Minister of State, led a delegation to the International Conference in Support of Lebanon’s People and Sovereignty, hosted by the French President in Paris. The conference saw participation from 70 countries, along with representatives from the UN, the EU, and various international and regional organizations.
Al Kaabi expressed deep concern over the continued developments in Lebanon and the repercussions of escalating tensions on regional stability. She reaffirmed the UAE’s commitment to Lebanon’s unity, sovereignty, and territorial integrity while promising support for the Lebanese people during these challenging times.
The Minister called on the international community to strengthen efforts to attain a ceasefire and prevent further loss of life. She highlighted the need for the full and unquestioning implementation of UN Security Council Resolutions 1559 and 1170. Al Kaabi encouraged all parties to avoid confrontations and escalation, highlighting the urgent necessity of addressing the humanitarian crisis that has displaced 1.4 million people in Lebanon due to military operations.
In a show of solidarity, Al Kaabi declared that President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan has allocated $100 million for urgent relief packages for the Lebanese people, along with an additional $30 million for Lebanese refugees in Syria.
Furthermore, she revealed that Vice President and Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum has led the provision of immediate food aid through the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiatives (MBRGI).
The UAE has also established the “UAE Stands with Lebanon” campaign, dispatching 14 aircraft carrying medical, food, and shelter supplies to Lebanon in coordination with the Lebanese government and international partners, including the World Health Organization (WHO) and the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR).
Al Kaabi condemned the ongoing Israeli violations of UN Security Council Resolutions, particularly Resolution 1701, underscoring the risks posed to civilians by the improved escalation of conflict in the region. She also denounced Israeli attacks on the United Nations Interim Forces in Lebanon (UNIFIL), calling for the safety of peacekeeping personnel involved in UN operations.
As the situation in Lebanon remains critical, the UAE’s commitment to humanitarian aid and regional stability stands escalating tensions.
