Emilia-Romagna, Northern Italy Region: Marc Hirschi’s remarkable form ahead of the World Championships in Zurich continued today with another victory at the Memorial Pantani in Cesenatico, Italy. The 26-year-old Swiss rider, known for his punchy style, executed a perfectly timed sprint to claim the win in a tightly contested headwind finish.
The 195km race, starting in Cesena, was under the control of UAE Team Emirates from the outset. A decisive move came when Filippo Baroncini launched a powerful attack, leading the race into the final kilometre. However, his effort was reeled in just before the finish line, setting the stage for Hirschi to unleash his sprint from a reduced peloton.
This victory marks Hirschi’s fifth consecutive win, adding to his already impressive season as he now prepares for the upcoming Trofeo Matteotti and Tour of Luxembourg. With this win, UAE Team Emirates has secured 72 victories this season, showcasing their dominance on the global cycling stage.
Reflecting on his performance, Hirschi said, “It was a tough race, but we controlled it from the start. Baroncini’s early attack set us up well, but as he was caught in the last 500m, I positioned myself perfectly for the sprint. It’s great to keep this winning streak alive, and I hope my luck continues.”
