Dubai: The Dubai Stand Up Paddle event, hosted by the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) as part of the Dubai Fitness Challenge (DFC), has made a triumphant return to the scenic Hatta Dam, drawing a record 2,330 participants.
This year’s event combined thrilling water sports and fitness activities against the iconic backdrop of Hatta’s mountainous landscape.
The expanded program catered to all ages and skill levels, from paddleboarding novices to seasoned pros, who were joined by families and fitness enthusiasts. Attendees enjoyed SUP (stand-up paddle) training sessions, community paddling challenges, and the newly introduced kayaking sessions, all designed to foster a sense of unity and adventure.
Saeed Hareb, Secretary General of the Dubai Sports Council, remarked that, “This year’s Dubai Stand Up Paddle not only met but exceeded our expectations. The record turnout and vibrant energy are a testament to Dubai’s commitment to promoting fitness and active lifestyles. This event is growing year by year, and I am thrilled to witness its impact.”
Ahmed Al Khaja, CEO of Dubai Festivals and Retail Establishment (DFRE), emphasized that, “The Dubai Stand Up Paddle captures the essence of the Dubai Fitness Challenge. This year, it brought together people from all walks of life in a celebration of health, community, and joy in one of the UAE’s most stunning outdoor venues. This isn’t just a day of activity—it’s a movement toward lifelong wellness and inclusivity in fitness.”
Dubai Stand Up Paddle event introduced a range of exciting new activities, making Hatta Dam a dynamic hub of adventure and relaxation:
- Free Hatta Kayak Sessions: A popular addition, allowing participants to explore the water from a fresh perspective.
- SUP Challenges and Skill Sessions: Paddlers of all skill levels joined in stand-up paddle challenges and training, guided by professional coaches.
- Adventure Activities: Thrill-seekers enjoyed spear-throwing, air rifle shooting, archery, and the extended hours at Hatta Aerial Adventure Park.
- Food Trucks: A diverse selection of food trucks served up local favorites and international cuisine, keeping attendees fueled throughout the day.
- Weekend Getaway Options: With camping zones, nearby hotels, and Airbnbs, participants were encouraged to extend their stay and make the most of the Hatta experience.
The event was organized by the Dubai Department of Economy and Tourism (DET) and the Dubai Sports Council, with support from Hatta and Hatta Kayak as Association Partners and Mai Dubai as Official Partners.
