Dubai: The Gulf Intervention Society (GIS) wrapped up its highly anticipated second edition of the “Medical Educational Program” in Dubai. The event, which took place on June 2nd and 3rd of 2023 at Conrad Hotel Dubai, marked the first of its kind in the MENA region and focused on the latest developments in heart disease, cardiac, and valve treatments.
Organized by the ICOM Group, this unique event garnered significant attention, attracting over 320 participants from various healthcare and cardiology fields. The program, developed under the supervision of the GIS, brought together a group of experts from GCC countries, including Dr. Rasha Al Bawardy and Dr. Sondos Samargandy from Saudi Arabia, Dr. Ahmed Al Alshatty from Kuwait, Dr. Abdulrahman Al Nabti from Qatar, Dr. Arif Al Nooryani and Dr. Fahad Baslaib from the UAE, Dr. Husain Noor from Bahrain, and Dr. Mohammed Al Mukhaini from Oman.
Over the course of two days, specialists delved into a range of topics, discussing the acquisition of cutting-edge technologies and treatments in cardiac surgery and catheterization from around the world. The program also highlighted the most significant challenges faced by the sector. Notably, live broadcasts were conducted from several hospitals in the region, including a special transmission from Al Qassimi Hospital in the UAE, providing attendees with an immersive experience.

The GIS aims to foster an interactive scientific platform that facilitates the exchange of experiences among experts from around the world. Since its establishment in 2018, the society has witnessed a remarkable 70 percent year-on-year increase in attendance and participation during its activities.
