Montreal (Canadian province of Quebec): The General Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA) and Volar Air Mobility signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) during the 2024 International Civil Aviation Organisation’s (ICAO) Advanced Air Mobility (AAM) Symposium. This agreement establishes the UAE’s first Green Aviation Technology Hub, a significant step towards environmental sustainability in aviation.
The Green Aviation Technology Hub will promote clean energy solutions, support research into sustainable aviation, and encourage collaboration among global stakeholders, regulators, and innovators. This initiative aligns with the UAE’s vision to become a global leader in green technology while reducing aviation-related carbon emissions.
Saif Mohammed Al Suwaidi, Director-General of GCAA, said, “This MoU reflects our commitment to advancing sustainable aviation and supporting the UAE’s national strategy to reduce carbon emissions. The Green Aviation Hub will play a pivotal role in developing cutting-edge solutions for a greener future.”
Henry Hooi, Chairman of Volar Air Mobility, added, “We are excited to partner with the GCAA in establishing this innovative hub. Our mission is to accelerate the adoption of green aviation technologies, and this collaboration will create a centre of excellence for sustainable air mobility in the UAE.”
