The Abu Dhabi Forum for Peace participated in the G20 Interfaith Forum (IF20) held in Brasilia, Brazil. The forum, which began on August 19, will conclude today. The event, held under the theme “Leave No One Behind: The Well-Being of the Planet and Its People,” reflected G20 Brazil’s broader focus on “Building a Just World and a Sustainable Planet.” The forum gathered a distinguished group of peacemakers and interfaith dialogue practitioners from around the world.
In his address, Shaikh Al Mahfouz bin Bayyah, Secretary-General of the Abu Dhabi Forum for Peace and Chair of the Religion and Civil Society Commission on Artificial Intelligence, emphasized the UAE’s strong commitment to promoting cultural diversity as a key component of humanitarian cooperation. He highlighted the nation’s ongoing efforts under the visionary leadership of President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, who has successfully steered the UAE’s international relations towards fostering dialogue, solidarity, and global initiatives aimed at promoting peace and brotherhood.
One such initiative underscored during the forum was ‘The Mohammed bin Zayed Water Initiative.’ Shaikh Al Mahfouz bin Bayyah described this initiative as a clear demonstration of the UAE’s dedication to tackling pressing global challenges. The program aims to provide access to clean water for billions of people worldwide, reflecting the UAE’s commitment to ensuring a sustainable and equitable future for all.
The G20 Interfaith Forum serves as a platform for global cooperation by engaging religious leaders and political representatives in shaping the G20 agenda. It draws on the significant influence of religious institutions and beliefs in global affairs, representing a diverse array of ideas, values, and institutions. Through its extensive network, the forum helps to prioritize critical global policy goals and identifies practical ways to implement them across all levels of society.
