Abu Dhabi: The Department of Municipalities and Transport (DMT) has unveiled its new Future Hub, reinforcing Abu Dhabi’s position as a global leader in urban governance and further advancing the city’s forward-thinking development strategies.
The Future Hub’s first collaboration is with the Massachusetts Institute of Technology’s (MIT) Senseable City Lab, a world-renowned research group focused on the intersection of cities, technology, and human interaction. Together, the organizations will conduct research, analyze data, and promote knowledge exchange to drive innovation in urban living.
His Excellency Mohamed Ali Al Shorafa, Chairman of DMT, emphasized that, “As Abu Dhabi continues to grow and evolve, technology-driven solutions that empower our citizens, residents, and businesses are essential. DMT is committed to providing the tools and environment necessary for success, and the Future Hub is a vital step in strengthening our global leadership in progressive urban development.”

The Future Hub is designed to accelerate metropolitan growth and enhance livability in Abu Dhabi by leveraging smart solutions. Through strategic partnerships with local, regional, and global institutions, it aims to deliver impactful research, create actionable frameworks, and offer training programs to empower DMT employees and foster a culture of continuous learning.
His Excellency Fady El Borno, Executive Director of Strategic Affairs at DMT, highlighted that, “The DMT Future Hub is a bold leap forward in our commitment to creating a world-class, livable environment. We aim to pioneer solutions that will enhance the quality of life for residents and create a model for 21st-century urban planning that can be replicated globally.”
