Sharjah: In a tragic accident, four young men lost their lives after their car plunged into the water from a bridge on Khalida Street near Sharjah Central Market and Al Jubail Souq early Friday morning.
Sharjah Police reported that the incident occurred at around 2:45 am. The vehicle, carrying three Syrians and one Egyptian, aged between 21 and 27 years, fell from the bridge into the water and sank. Three of the men were pronounced dead at the scene, while the fourth succumbed to his injuries on Saturday.
Witnesses at the scene alerted authorities but were unable to save the victims. The victims were trapped inside the submerged vehicle and could not open the doors to escape. Maritime rescue teams, police patrols, and ambulances quickly responded to the scene.
The vehicle was recovered from the water, and the bodies were taken to a hospital at around 5:00 am before being transferred to a forensic laboratory for autopsy. Police investigations revealed that the accident was caused by speeding, lack of concentration, and sudden swerving.
