Abu Dhabi: The Federal Geographic Information Centre (FGIC) has unveiled the UAE ‘National Atlas book’, marking the 53rd Eid Al Etihad.
This comprehensive atlas stands as the official geographic reference, offering detailed insights into the nation’s progress through geographic data, indicators, aerial imagery, and satellite visuals.
It spans a broad spectrum of sectors, including education, healthcare, energy, water, culture, heritage, infrastructure, population, environment, and telecommunications, encapsulating five decades of achievements within a temporal and spatial framework.
A dedicated chapter highlights the UAE’s historic journey, focusing on the establishment of the Union, from the efforts of the founding fathers in 1968 to the country’s official formation in December 1971.
Reflecting on the UAE’s success over the past fifty years and its vision for the future, the atlas combines precise geographic data and spatial analysis to provide a reliable resource that illustrates the nation’s development under visionary leadership.
Produced in collaboration with federal and official entities, the atlas forms part of the National Strategy for Geographic Information infrastructure.
This initiative aims to enhance the geographic information sector’s role in the knowledge economy and bolster the UAE’s global standing as outlined in the UAE Centennial 2071 vision.
Complementing the printed edition, a digital version of the Union Atlas was launched in September 2023, accessible via the “UAE Atlas” app or the official websites of the Union Atlas and the Centre.
