Dubai: The Ministerial Development Council of the UAE recently converged at Expo 2020 Dubai to discuss numerous key initiatives and projects aiming to further develop government work ecosystem.
The gathering which was chaired by H.H. Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Presidential Affairs deliberated about a number of laws, including the Organization of Family Business and the Executive Regulations of the Federal Law regarding the Rules and Certificates of Origin.
FEDERAL TRADEMARKS LAW
The Council also discussed the Executive Regulations of the Federal Trademarks Law to maintain a balance between effective protection of the rights of trademark owners and consumers and the public interest.
The law is also expected to contribute towards the rise of the UAE’s rank in the Global Innovation Index (GII) by creating an environment that encourages investment, diversity in economic activities, competitiveness and enhance researches, development and innovation.
FEDERAL LAW ON COPYRIGHTS AND RELATED RIGHTS
The Executive Regulations of Federal Law on Copyrights and Related Rights were also one of the critical laws which were under review by the Council. The regulation allows any natural or legal person to practice any listed activity without the need to be registered in the list of importers and distributors.

FEDERAL LAW ON THE REGULATION OF THE AUDITING PROFESSION
The Council discussed the executive regulations of Federal Law on the Regulation of the Auditing Profession, which addresses auditor registries, prerequisites, statements, conditions and documents for natural and legal persons practicing the profession, and other provisions complementing the law.
Apart from these regulations, the Council reviewed and deliberated on a number of government reports, including the annual report of the Board of Directors of the Federal Authority for Nuclear Regulation (FANR) for the year 2021.
