Most of the people in the UAE honor and maintain historical clothing traditions. They still wear national clothing in everyday life and on important occasions. The Jalabiya is one of the most popular Emirati women’s pieces of clothing.
They are one of the most gorgeous and spectacular Arabic traditional garments. These women’s robes are both classic and modern in appearance. Further, they are transitional costumes in the sense that they are traditional clothes with modern characteristics.
The Jalabiya is a long and light robe embellished with embroidery, crystals, sequins, fabric designs, and other ornamentations and it is mainly worn by Emirati women, especially during significant events such as Eid and weddings. It includes bright colors and transparent fabrics.

The women love to wear this garment because it is very comfortable and is a long flowing robe that covers the female body modestly. Further, it is bright and ornately embroidered, making the woman feel more lovely and joyous than while she’s wearing a plain black Abaya.
Some of the Jalabiyas are decorated with a plethora of pricey embellishments such as gold embroidery. This robe can be exceedingly expensive as the artisans decorate the Jalabiyas with actual gold and silver threads.
The Jalabiya worn by a woman is often used by the people to determine the family’s status and income. Of course, there are also less expensive Jalabiyas with a huge selection of these brightly colored robes to fit any taste and purpose.

The Jalabiya is made of high-quality gleaming materials like ‘Al Mzarray,’ which is a fabric made of ‘Zary,’ golden or silver glittering threads. There are also the light silky fabrics known as ‘Abu Tairah’ or ‘Abu Al Tyoor’ that are used for the bride’s gown. It’s a brightly colored cloth with flowers and leaves shaped design imprinted on it. The bride’s gown is traditionally a loose Jalabiya made of ‘Abu Al Tyoor’ and embellished with silver or golden threads all along the neckline.
