Abu Dhabi: Extending its helping hand to the most deserving across the region, the UAE affiliate of International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies, the Emirates Red Crescent (ERC) has contributed towards the benefit of 1.2 million people as part of its winter aid campaign.
Operated under the directives of H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Ruler’s Representative in Al Dhafra Region and Chairman of the ERC, the volunteer humanitarian organization had intensified its humanitarian and relief efforts to support people affected by harsh weather conditions in affected countries and has allocated additional relief aid for Syrian refugees located both inside and outside their country.
ERC Secretary-General, Dr. Mohamed Ateeq Al Falahi, emphasized on the keenness of Sheikh Hamdan to expand the scope of beneficiaries of the ERC’s Winter Aid Campaign in many countries witnessing low temperatures.
The ERC Secretary-General further added that, with the rise of health conditions caused by COVID-19, the ERC has substantially intensified its winter aid this year and has created suitable conditions for beneficiaries and provided means of prevention from flu and other winter diseases.
Dr. Al Falahi praised the continuing collaboration between the organization and the UAE embassies across the globe.
The benefits of ERC’s Winter Aid Campaign are currently extended to the residents of Jordan, Syria, Bosnia, Iraq, Albania, Kazakhstan, San Marino, Armenia, Latvia, Russia, Tunisia, Egypt, Lebanon, Greece, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Estonia, Ukraine, Belarus, Lithuania, Georgia, Moldova, Azerbaijan and Turkmenistan.
