Nouakchott, Mauritania: In line with its efforts to support vital services in the Northwestern African country of Mauritania, the UAE-based volunteer humanitarian organization, the Emirates Red Crescent (ERC) has initiated numerous development projects in Aghlik bin Bayyah Village.
Initiatives in the Village include rehabilitation of the Medical Centre and the Holy Quran Memorization Institute. Apart from a water supply network which delivers potable water to homes, an artesian well has also been dug with a solar-powered tank and pump.

As part of the initiative, the 500 Sq. M main dam in the village will be restored and maintained, benefitting 11,000 people in Aghlik Bin Bayyah Village and the neighboring villages.
The ERC delegation, currently visiting Mauritania, has conducted numerous humanitarian and development missions.
An opening ceremony, initiating these projects was attended by Mr. Saeed Suhail Al Mazrouei, Director of Government Communications along with numerous Mauritanian officials.
At the event, Mr. Al Mazrouei highlighted that the projects mirror the ERC’s attention to enhancing development and reconstruction efforts in Mauritania. The Director of Government Communications added that ERC’s efforts also focus on pioneering and vital areas in health, education and essential services.
Mr. Al Mazrouei remarked that it was a contribution from the philanthropic organization to rehabilitating the infrastructure that serves large sectors of the fraternal Mauritanian people.

The Government Communications Official pointed out that the projects opened in Aghlik Village are only a connection in the series of projects implemented by the ERC in Mauritania in all fields.
Speaking at the event, the Mauritanian officials extended thanks and appreciation to the ERC for its continuous efforts in adopting such projects and implementing them. The official also commended the humanitarian and developmental role of the ERC in Mauritania.
