Sharjah: The Emirates Publishers Association (EPA) is taking part in the Beijing International Book Fair 2024 to help Emirati publishers learn about trends in the Chinese publishing market and understand what readers in China are looking for.
By participating, the association demonstrates its dedication to helping Emirati publishers and growing the publishing sector in the UAE. The founder and honorary president of the Emirates Publishers Association, Sheikha Bodour bint Sultan Al Qasimi, has a vision and directions that are in line with this project.
Through the SME sponsorship program, the EPA was able to successfully secure sponsorship for three of its members at the Beijing International Book Fair as part of its continued efforts to provide its members with chances for worldwide expansion.
Thirty publishers worldwide—three of whom are Emirati publishers—are being given a special opportunity by this program, which assists small publishers worldwide.
A sponsored pavilion, training programs, and networking opportunities are helping the chosen publishers grow their businesses in China and abroad.
The director of Altakhayol Publishing House and publisher Mohammed Bindekhain, who is also a member of the EPA board and treasurer, emphasized that taking part in the exhibition shows how open the UAE is to all cultures and civilizations.
He emphasized the association’s commitment to utilizing China’s innovative publishing and knowledge-production experience as well as to enhancing cultural cooperation and exchange between China and the UAE.
He said that, “The book fair provides an opportunity to strengthen ties with international organizations and institutions in the publishing sector. It also serves as a platform to promote Emirati publishers and open horizons for forming partnerships to exchange publishing and translation rights through organized sessions with international publishers.”
