Dubai: Emirates is set to receive the delivery of its first Airbus A350 aircraft in October, marking a significant milestone in the airline’s expansion. The new A350 is part of a larger order of 50 aircraft that the airline placed with Airbus as part of its strategy to modernize and expand its fleet.
The A350s will play a crucial role in enhancing Emirates’ long-haul capabilities, enabling it to serve new destinations and provide a more fuel-efficient service. Airbus A350 is known for its advanced technology and fuel efficiency, consuming 25% less fuel compared to older aircraft models.
These parameters aligns with Emirates’ ongoing efforts to reduce its carbon footprint and improve operational efficiency. Additionally, the aircraft offers improved cabin comfort for passengers, with features like wider seats, larger windows, and a quieter cabin environment.
Adel Alredha, Deputy President and Chief Operations Officer – Emirates Airline, said at the first edition of Dubai AI and Web3 Festival that the airline will receive 5 Airbus aircraft by the end of December this year, while no Boeing aircraft have been received so far. He also said that, ”Due to delays in aircraft deliveries, we have had to extend the service of some of our current aircraft.”
Emirates President Sir Tim Clark expressed optimism about the arrival of the A350, noting that it will enhance the airline’s connectivity across key markets in Europe, Asia, and the Americas. Clark said that, “The A350 will be a game-changer for us, allowing Emirates to expand its network sustainably while offering our customers the best flying experience.”
The aircraft retrofit program covers 190 aircraft, following an increase in the number of aircraft targeted for modernization, according to a plan that costs over $3 billion.
The delivery of the first A350 comes as the global aviation industry continues to recover from the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic, with Emirates leading efforts to restore capacity and meet growing demand for international travel. Emirates had previously announced the different destinations like Middle East/GCC, West Asia and Europe that they would fly to with its A350 network.
