Dubai: Emirates has launching a third daily non-stop flight between Dubai and Melbourne, driven by its newly retrofitted 4-class Boeing 777-300ER, starting from 30 March 2025. This enhanced aircraft features Emirates’ award-winning Premium Economy cabin alongside its latest-generation Business Class seats, offering customers an elevated travel experience.
Currently, Emirates handles two daily non-stop flights to Melbourne with Airbus A380s and a third flight via Singapore. However, from 30 March, the airline will discontinue its Singapore-Melbourne route, replacing it with direct services to both destinations under new flight numbers.
The new direct flight, EK404, will depart Dubai at 21:15 and arrive in Melbourne at 17:40 the following day. The return flight, EK405, will leave Melbourne at 23:55, landing in Dubai at 07:00. With this addition, Emirates will intensify its connectivity to 27 European cities via Dubai, offering greater flexibility to travelers.
The upgraded Boeing 777 will feature 328 seats, including 8 First Class Suites, 40 Business Class seats, 24 Premium Economy seats, and 256 Economy Class seats. Emirates’ Premium Economy cabin, named ‘Best in Class’ at the 2024 Business Traveler Asia-Pacific awards, boasts ergonomic cream leather seats with a 38-inch pitch and an 8-inch recline. The revamped Business Class delivers lie-flat beds, personal mini-bars, and 23-inch HD screens, along with a bar for mid-flight refreshments.
With the new service, Emirates will provide 3,472 weekly Premium Economy seats across Melbourne and Sydney, sustaining tourism and economic growth in Victoria. Emirates has also restored pre-pandemic capacity in other Australian cities.
The airline reinstated its second daily Perth service on 1 December, adding nearly 12,000 weekly seats to the city. Emirates also resumed flights to Adelaide on 28 October, enhancing connectivity to South Australia. In total, Emirates now serves 77 weekly flights across five Australian gateways—Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Perth, and Adelaide.
Emirates’ dedication to Australia extends beyond passenger services. The airline carries over 2,350 tons of cargo weekly to and from Australia, supporting trade ties bolstered by the recent Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA) signed between the UAE and Australia.
Additionally, Emirates and Qantas’ codeshare partnership offers customers access to more than 120 destinations globally. Over the past decade, the partnership has served 15 million passengers, advancing seamless travel options across the two airlines’ networks. With its enhanced services and strategic investments, Emirates continues to play a vital role in driving tourism, trade, and connectivity between the UAE and Australia.
