Abu Dhabi: The UAE Economic Integration Committee held its seventh meeting of 2024, led by Abdulla bin Touq Al Marri, Minister of Economy.
Alongside was Dr. Thani bin Ahmed Al Zeyoudi, Minister of State for Foreign Trade, Alia Abdullah Al Mazrouei, Minister of State for Entrepreneurship, and representatives from economic development departments across all seven emirates.
The meeting focused on updating economic legislations to bolster the UAE’s competitive business environment and its shift toward a knowledge- and innovation-based economic model.
Key discussions included implementing telemarketing regulations to protect consumer rights in line with UAE Cabinet directives.
Bin Touq highlighted the UAE’s achievements as a global hub for economic activities, driven by its forward-thinking leadership, flexible policies, and proactive legislation aligned with international standards. These efforts are integral to realizing the goals of the ‘We the UAE 2031’ vision.
The Committee reviewed the Ministry of Economy’s performance, achieving a 95.7% score in the Government Data Maturity Index, demonstrating excellence in data management and its contributions to a robust economic database.
Additionally, discussions included initiatives to safeguard ‘Intellectual Property Rights’ for UAE products with Geographical Indications (GI), boosting the global competitiveness of Emirati goods such as Dates, Honey, Dairy, and Fish while preserving National heritage.
By fostering innovation, enhancing investment appeal, and supporting traditional industries, the Committee reaffirmed its commitment to driving economic diversification and sustainable growth in the UAE.
