Dubai: The Dubai Sports Council will host the highly anticipated ‘Dubai Sports Retreat’ on November 12 at the Museum of the Future under the theme ‘Dubai: The First Sports Destination’.
The landmark event is aligned with the vision of His Highness Sheikh Mansoor bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairman of the Dubai Sports Council, who is dedicated to shaping the future of sports in Dubai over the next two Olympic cycles (2025 to 2033) to foster growth and development across all sectors of sports.
Details of the event were unveiled during a press conference at the Dubai Sports Council headquarters, attended by His Excellency Khalfan Belhoul, Vice Chairman of the Dubai Sports Council, His Excellency Saeed Hareb, Secretary General of the Council, and other representatives from media outlets.
Several high-profile ministers and officials have confirmed their participation as speakers at the retreat including, His Excellency Ahmed Belhoul Al Falasi, Minister of Sports; His Excellency Hilal Al Marri, Director General of the Department of Economy and Tourism in Dubai; Her Excellency Hessa Buhumaid, Director General of the Community Development Authority in Dubai; and His Excellency Abdullah Saeed Al Naboodah, owner and patron of the Dubai Basketball Team.

In addition to government leaders, a star-studded lineup of sports figures will attend, including Khabib Nurmagomedov, the longest-reigning UFC Lightweight Champion, former France and Manchester United goalkeeper Fabien Barthez, Lebanese basketball legend Fadi Al Khatib, former world number one doubles player Sania Mirza from India, and Indian cricket icon Harbhajan Singh.
His Excellency Khalfan Belhoul expressed pride stating that, “Dubai has earned its place as a top global sports destination, and we are committed to building on this success. Through collaboration and engagement with athletes, experts, and decision-makers, we aim to shape the future of the sports sector and make Dubai the world’s premier sports destination.”
The Dubai Sports Retreat will feature six key discussion themes: community sports, sports infrastructure, hosting major sports events, sports clubs, football, and sports talents. The event aims to gather insights and launch initiatives that will contribute to both the development of sports and the broader community, helping to drive Dubai’s sports sector into the future.
