Dubai: Dubai Municipality has launched the Smart Municipality Eye, an advanced aerial monitoring system that integrates artificial intelligence and unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) to improve urban management and sustainability.
The initiative enables real-time, mobile oversight of green spaces, evaluates plant health, and predicts potential issues before they escalate, reinforcing the Municipality’s proactive approach to city management.
Through this system, drones will map Dubai’s vast green spaces spanning over 52 million square meters. By analyzing vegetation health and detecting irrigation or pest issues, the AI platform enables predictive maintenance to address challenges early.
To strengthen the initiative, Dubai Municipality has signed an MoU with Eanan Al Samma for Remote-Controlled Aircraft Manufacturing to develop and deploy advanced drone and AI solutions for municipal operations and environmental management.
The MoU was signed by His Excellency Eng. Marwan Ahmed bin Ghalita, Director General of Dubai Municipality, and His Excellency Rashid Hamdan bin Khadim Al Nuaimi, Chairman of Eanan Al Samma. The event gathered experts to discuss sustainable urban development and technological innovation.
Eng. Marwan bin Ghalita stated that, “This collaboration with Eanan Al Samma represents an advanced step in positioning Dubai Municipality as a proactive leader supported by artificial intelligence and drone technologies in managing municipal operations and enhancing field services across the city.”
Rashid Al Nuaimi noted that the partnership reflects both organizations’ shared commitment to using drone innovation to advance sustainability and smart governance. Al Nuaimi added that the agreement supports the development of intelligent systems aligned with Dubai’s long-term vision for efficiency and quality of life.
Under the agreement, both parties will exchange expertise, test operational models, and develop innovative technologies to enhance municipal services and predictive planning. The partnership reinforces Dubai’s commitment to sustainability, resource efficiency, and its position as a global model for urban innovation.
