Dubai: Dubai Municipality has launched an advanced training program centered on future foresight and strategic planning for municipal development.
The program, called Future Foresight – A MicroMasters Program, is delivered in collaboration with the Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT) Dubai and targets senior municipal professionals.
The initiative was introduced during the opening of Urban Future Week 2025, organized by Dubai Municipality in partnership with the Museum of the Future. It underscores the Municipality’s ongoing efforts to strengthen future-oriented urban leadership and promote cities that are adaptive, sustainable, and citizen-focused.
Designed to institutionalize foresight capabilities across leadership teams, the training program provides participants with tools to anticipate trends, manage uncertainty, and develop forward-thinking strategies aligned with Dubai’s long-term urban, environmental, and economic goals.

Marwan Ahmed bin Ghalita, Director-General of Dubai Municipality, stated that, “Through this program, we are empowering our leaders to adopt proactive thinking methodologies that shape the future rather than respond to it.”
The comprehensive curriculum covers both qualitative and quantitative foresight methodologies, including scenario planning, strategic roadmapping, and environmental scanning. Participants will also complete hands-on capstone projects addressing real-world municipal challenges, supported by international experts in foresight and urban innovation.
The training program forms a crucial part of Dubai Municipality’s broader vision to build institutional resilience and ensure long-term sustainability in governance. It aligns closely with the Dubai Urban Master Plan 2040, UAE Centennial 2071, and the UN Sustainable Development Goals, particularly Goal 11 (Sustainable Cities and Communities) and Goal 13 (Climate Action).
Through this initiative, Dubai Municipality reinforces its commitment to shaping a future-ready city built on knowledge, innovation, and sustainable urban practices.
