Dubai: Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has announced that construction of the Dubai Metro Blue Line has reached 10 percent completion, marking significant progress just five months after its groundbreaking in June 2025.
The announcement was made by Mattar Al Tayer, Director-General and Chairman of the Board of Executive Directors of RTA, who confirmed that the AED 56.5 billion ($15.38 billion) project is advancing on schedule. The 30 km line, featuring 14 stations, will connect the Red and Green Lines, linking major residential, economic, and educational districts across Dubai.
Currently, over 500 engineers and specialists, supported by 3,000 workers, are operating across 12 active construction sites to maintain momentum. Al Tayer stated that the project is expected to reach 30 percent completion by the end of 2026, with full operations beginning on September 9, 2029.

Al Tayer emphasized that the Dubai Metro Blue Line is one of RTA’s most strategic initiatives, designed to serve nearly one million residents by 2040. The line will enable direct travel to Dubai International Airport in just 20 minutes, supporting the Dubai Urban Plan 2040 and Dubai Economic Agenda (D33).
It also advances the ‘20-minute city’ concept by facilitating smoother mobility and reducing traffic congestion by 20 percent. Additionally, property values near metro stations are projected to rise by up to 25 percent.
So far, RTA has recorded over 3 million safe work hours without fatalities, adhering to world-class safety standards. Construction milestones include 260 deep foundations and 400,000 cubic metres of excavation, while two ready-mix concrete plants and production yards have been established in Al Ruwayyah 3 and International City to streamline operations.

The Blue Line will operate in two directions: one stretching from Creek Interchange Station on the Green Line in Al Jaddaf to Dubai Academic City, and the other from Centrepoint Interchange Station on the Red Line in Al Rashidiya to International City.
A defining feature of the project will be the Emaar Station, set to become the world’s highest metro station at 74 metres, capable of handling 240,000 passengers daily by 2040. With its innovative architectural design that integrates seamlessly with Dubai’s skyline, the station will stand as a symbol of the city’s forward-looking infrastructure vision.
RTA continues to maintain transparent communication with local communities, ensuring residents are kept informed about construction progress and planned traffic diversions through ongoing public engagement initiatives.
