France: The town of Aix-les-Bains is preparing to host a landmark event as France welcomes its inaugural camel race with international participants on 4 August 2024.
The event set against the backdrop of the Olympic Summer Games in France, will feature jockeys from Dubai’s renowned Arabian Desert Camel Riding Center (ADCRC), marking a significant milestone in the global expansion of camel sports.
The event will feature two exciting 300-meter races, designed to showcase the unique and exhilarating nature of camel racing. The initiative aims to introduce European audiences to the excitement and cultural significance of this traditional sport. By bringing camel racing to France, organizers hope to broaden the sport’s appeal and engage a new international audience.
Olivier Philippaneau, the event organizer, expressed enthusiasm about the global dimension of the race by stating that, “While we have hosted camel races in France for several years, competing against jockeys from Dubai adds a new level of interest and international flair. This event represents a new chapter in global camel racing competitions, and we are honored to have top international teams such as ADCRC participate. Their involvement underscores the growing global interest in camel sports.”
