Dubai: The Fifth Dubai Course and Exhibition for Shoulder Surgery has concluded at the Mohammed Bin Rashid College of Medicine and Health Sciences.
The event, brought together global medical experts to explore cutting-edge techniques and innovations in shoulder surgery, with topics ranging from arthroscopic procedures to robotic and AI-assisted joint replacements.
Dr. Osama Saleh, Secretary of the Arab Society of Shoulder and Attachment, Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon, and Chairman of the Conference, highlighted the extensive training initiatives held alongside the event.
Over two days, 120 physicians participated in hands-on courses focused on complex shoulder joint replacements using artificial intelligence and robotics, particularly for advanced cases. Specialized training sessions were also conducted for physical therapists, focusing on rehabilitation techniques for shoulder-related conditions.
“Frequent shoulder dislocations, tendon tears, and joint replacements-especially for elderly patients- remain the primary challenges in shoulder surgery,” Dr. Saleh noted.
The conference also featured seminars involving over 15 leading pharmaceutical and medical device companies. These sponsors showcased the latest technological advancements in orthopedics, including artificial intelligence, robotics, endoscopic devices, and joint implants designed to improve surgical outcomes.
Dr. Saleh emphasized the importance of tailored solutions for regional needs, explaining that, “the anatomy of Asian patients differs from that of Western patients, making it essential to develop joint designs that address Middle Eastern-specific requirements.”
Attendees had the opportunity to learn from 85 lectures across 16 scientific sessions, which included the presentation of complex case studies to equip participants with advanced skills for handling challenging cases.
The event successfully created a platform for fostering communication between orthopaedic specialists, surgeons, and medical suppliers.
The Fifth Dubai Course and Exhibition for Shoulder Surgery continues to establish itself as a key event in the region, promoting collaboration between medical professionals and the healthcare industry.
