Dubai: Dubai Customs, in collaboration with DP World, has launched a specialized academic scholarship program for the 2024-2025 academic year, with 32 Emirati participants from the first cohort successfully enrolled. This initiative follows their completion of rigorous selection criteria and specific program requirements.
The program, designed to enhance academic and professional skills in logistics and customs, received over 500 applications, with around 100 candidates shortlisted for interviews. Ultimately, 32 individuals were selected to join.
These initiatives reflect Dubai Customs’ commitment to nurturing local talent by offering educational guidance and support to students and employees, equipping them with skills in business management, international trade, logistics services, and supply chain management.
Sultan bin Sulayem, Group Chairman & CEO of DP World and Chairman of Ports, Customs and Free Zone Corporation, expressed his satisfaction with the keen interest shown by Emirati youth. Sultan bin Sulayem stated that, “These programs enable young people to showcase their abilities and prepare for the workforce. Emiratization remains a key priority, both for its economic and social benefits, and we are optimistic about achieving advanced rates of Emiratization shortly.”
Dr. Abdulla Mohammed Busenad, Director General of Dubai Customs, commended the dedication of the Emirati youth enrolled, encouraging them to pursue academic excellence and expand their knowledge to boost their qualifications and career prospects. Dr. Busenad emphasized Dubai Customs’ long-standing commitment to offering specialized training program that support the UAE’s sustainable development goals and social agenda.
The newly introduced scholarship program offers Bachelor’s degrees in Global Trade, Customs, and Logistics for high school graduates, as well as Master’s degrees in Business Administration, Digital Commerce, and Supply Chain Management. These tracks align with the department’s mission to empower Emirati talent and advance the nation’s economic development.
Mohammed Al Ghaffari, Executive Director of Human Resources at Dubai Customs, congratulated the scholarship recipients, highlighting the department’s role in designing programs that prepare young Emiratis for leadership roles. He underscored Dubai Customs’ dedication to fostering the next generation of professionals capable of contributing to key economic sectors.
