Abu Dhabi: In line with the UAE’s Innovation Month, the Department of Health – Abu Dhabi (DoH), which oversees the healthcare industry in the emirate, is launching “DoH Innovation Week 2023.”
The event, which takes place at the Department’s headquarters, features the participation of a number of organizations from the Abu Dhabi healthcare ecosystem and offers participants access to a variety of innovative healthcare-related activities and applications, including start-ups and the Abu Dhabi Life Sciences Hub in the Metaverse.

Dr. Jamal Mohammad Al Kaabi, Under-Secretary of DoH, stated that, “Under the directives of our wise leadership, the UAE unifies its efforts this time every year to accelerate innovation across all levels and industries, stemming from our belief in its importance as the engine that drives success, whether it is for public entities, the private sector, or members of our community. At DoH, we realise the importance of applying innovative solutions and creative spirits in the healthcare workforce, to further enhance the sector’s outputs and the quality and sustainability of its services, cementing Abu Dhabi’s position as a leading destination for innovation in healthcare and life sciences.”
The event features a number of interesting events, such as “Park to Innovate,” where participants may share their ideas on how to keep Abu Dhabi’s healthcare system from stagnating. Visitors can also take part in a number of debates on creativity and innovation in the “Innovation Café.”
The “Gamification Corner” will offer players a variety of games and activities, as well as the chance to immerse themselves in the Metaverse’s virtual world. The “Innovation Sprint” will also inspire participants to embrace an inventive mentality and a proactive approach to change rather than passively waiting for it to happen.
The National Innovation Strategy, design thinking, artificial intelligence (AI), and other topics will all be covered during Innovation Week 2023 in a series of panel discussions and workshops. Examples of such topics include supporting entrepreneurs in a panel titled “Lessons from a Physician Turned Entrepreneur” and “Turning Research into Innovation.”
