Dubai: dnata Logistics, the global freight forwarding and logistics services leader, has officially initiated the construction of a new 57,000m² warehouse in Dubai South, a prominent development hub for aviation, logistics, and real estate. Strategically situated near Dubai World Central – Al Maktoum International Airport (DWC), the warehouse facility marks a significant milestone in dnata’s efforts to improve its operational capabilities and strengthen Dubai’s position as a key international logistics hub.
The groundbreaking ceremony was attended by HE Khalifa Al Zaffin, Executive Chairman of Dubai Aviation City Corporation and Dubai South, and Steve Allen, CEO of dnata, along with senior executives from both entities. The new warehouse, with an investment value of $27 million (AED 100 million), is scheduled to meet the increasing demand for cargo and logistics services in the region. With a capacity to handle 400,000 tons of cargo annually, the facility will boost dnata Logistics’ storage capacity by 50 percent, while creating over 50 new direct jobs.
Incorporating cutting-edge technologies, the warehouse will feature automated systems for cargo storage and recovery, along with truck loading and offloading capabilities. A state-of-the-art, AI-driven warehouse management system will optimize efficiency and service delivery.
Aligned with dnata’s global sustainability strategy, the new warehouse will prioritize environmental efficiency. The facility will be fitted with solar panels, rainwater and energy harvesting systems, and advanced HVAC systems to minimize energy consumption. It is expected to earn global LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) certification one year after its operational debut.
Construction is already underway, with the warehouse slated for fulfillment in November 2025. This new facility will bring the total number of dnata Logistics locations in the UAE to 11. Sean Bradley, Managing Director of dnata Logistics, emphasized the significance of the new project, stating that, “This advanced facility represents a key investment in our future growth. It will allow us to expand our service offerings, reach new markets, and stay at the forefront of operational innovation. Our focus on sustainability is integral to this project, as we aim to undervalue environmental impact while meeting growing customer demands.”
Mohsen Ahmad, CEO of the Logistics District at Dubai South, also expressed that, “We are proud to see dnata’s innovative facility take shape. This development will add immense value to Dubai South and further strengthen Dubai’s global logistics capabilities.”
dnata Logistics continues to expand its portfolio to meet evolving market needs. Recent investments have included a new warehouse facility at DWC, along with the introduction of air import, perishable handling, and documentation management services.
