Dubai: His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister, and Ruler of Dubai, has directed the launch of specialized programs to ensure uninterrupted education for Lebanese children.
The initiative will be managed through the Digital School under the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiatives (MBRGI) and aims to support schools and students affected by ongoing crises in Lebanon.
The Lebanon Education Continuity Project (2024-2025) is part of the UAE’s comprehensive humanitarian response, which has previously delivered emergency aid, healthcare, and food supplies to the Lebanese people.
This education project aims to benefit 40,000 students by providing access to digital learning platforms that ensure continued education for children impacted by school disruptions.
Key components of the project include:
- Digital education platforms in line with Lebanon’s national curriculum.
- Training tools and support for teachers to maintain educational standards.
- Offline access to learning content for students in displacement centers, bypassing the need for internet connectivity.
- Collaboration with partners and authorities to overcome infrastructural challenges and ensure learning continuity.
Speaking about the initiative, Mohammad bin Abdullah Al Gergawi, Secretary-General of MBRGI stated that, “The Lebanon Education Continuity Project reflects the directives of President His Highness Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum to support the Lebanese people. This initiative ensures that children, despite current challenges, do not miss out on their education, which is essential for their future.”
The Lebanon Education Continuity Project reflects MBRGI’s broader vision of investing in education to enhance quality of life and empower communities. MBRGI has launched several initiatives to:
- Combat illiteracy and expand access to education in developing countries.
- Train teachers and build a modern educational infrastructure.
- Provide vocational training to empower students from disadvantaged backgrounds.
- Promote reading and knowledge-sharing among Arab youth to prepare them for future challenges.
The Digital School, a pioneering initiative of MBRGI, plays a vital role in spreading knowledge through smart learning solutions. By equipping students with the tools they need for the future, MBRGI ensures that education remains accessible even during crises, reaffirming the UAE’s belief in human capital as the foundation of sustainable progress.
