Dubai: Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) and Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) in Dubai have entered into a sponsorship agreement where RTA will be the Platinum Sponsor of the World Green Economy Summit (WGES) organised by WGEO, DEWA, and the Dubai Supreme Council of Energy for three sessions from 2023 to 2025.
The partnership aligns with the shared goal of DEWA and RTA to promote the adoption of a green economy and enhance Dubai’s position as a worldwide hub for sustainability. The agreement was signed by Mr. Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD and CEO of DEWA and Chairman of the WGEO, and Mr. Mattar Al Tayer, Director General and Chairman of the Board of Executive Directors of RTA.
The Summit plays a fundamental role in supporting the UAE’s outstanding efforts in climate action, as well as supporting its firm commitment to sustainability and the development of sustainable solutions to environmental challenges. It also reflects the UAE’s role in achieving sustainable, low-carbon economic growth and ensuring a better future for humanity. It provides a strategic platform for developing effective and proactive plans to combat climate change.

It yielded a road map that is bound to result in zero emissions by 2050 in all aspects related to green mobility, infrastructure, and the circular economy. “
