Dubai: The Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) Research and Development (R&D) Centre has released its fourth Transactions Report, highlighting a notable increase in scientific output.
The 2023 report features 71 research papers presented at international conferences and published in journals indexed by Scopus, representing a 14.5 percent rise from the previous year. The studies cover a broad range of topics including solar energy, water management, energy efficiency, smart grid integration, Fourth Industrial Revolution technologies, space technologies, and energy systems analysis.
The R&D Centre has received several awards for its scientific achievements, including the prestigious Best Paper Award 2023 from the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE). This award recognized six papers presented at the inaugural MENA Solar Conference, hosted by DEWA in November 2023.
His Excellency Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, Managing Director and CEO of DEWA, expressed pride in the global recognition of Emirati research efforts. “The R&D Centre’s work reflects our commitment to shaping a sustainable future and innovating within the Fourth Industrial Revolution. The report includes several key topics, such as ‘Mission Profile Concept for PV Modules: Use Case – Middle East Deserts vs. Temperate European Climate,’ ‘Data-Driven Key Performance Indicators and Datasets for Building Energy Flexibility,’ ‘Development of Flow Batteries Focusing on Flow Field Optimization and Novel Methods for Estimating the Battery’s Electrochemical Impedance,’ and ‘A Comprehensive Lifecycle Assessment of the PV Reverse Osmosis Facility.’
