Dubai: Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) now operates a network of more than 740 EV Green Charger points across Dubai, reflecting the emirate’s growing adoption of electric vehicles, which surpassed 34,970 as of October 2024.
Users can easily locate these charging stations through DEWA’s website, smart app, and 14 additional digital platforms.
Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD & CEO of DEWA, stated, “Our EV Green Charger initiative, launched in 2014, aligns with Dubai’s vision of becoming the smartest and happiest city globally by leveraging Fourth Industrial Revolution technologies.”
He added, “This pioneering infrastructure supports the UAE’s goal of having 50% of vehicles on its roads be electric by 2050. Recently, we introduced a Regulatory and Licensing Framework for EV charging infrastructure in Dubai, a vital step toward green mobility and achieving net-zero carbon emissions by 2050.”

In line with this commitment, DEWA issued the first Independent Charge Point Operator (CPO) licenses for EV charging stations in Dubai to Tesla and UAEV. This milestone is designed to address both current and future needs for EV infrastructure.
The EV Green Charger network offers various charging options, including ultra-fast, fast, public, and wall-box chargers. Since its inception, the initiative has benefitted 16,828 users, delivering approximately 31,674 megawatt hours of electricity to EVs by the end of September 2024.
