Dubai: HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD & CEO of Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA), has conducted a site visit to review the expansion progress of the second phase of the Solar-Powered Data Center at the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park.
The center, operated by Moro Hub—a subsidiary of Digital DEWA—was inaugurated in 2023 by HH Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai. Keeping the Guinness World Record as the world’s largest solar-powered data center, the facility demonstrates Dubai’s commitment to sustainable innovation.
Al Tayer was accompanied by senior DEWA officials, including Marwan Bin Haidar, Executive Vice President of Innovation and the Future; Waleed Bin Salman, Executive Vice President of Business Development and Excellence; and Mohammed bin Sulaiman, CEO of Moro Hub.
The Green Data Center aligns with the vision of HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE, and Ruler of Dubai, to enhance the UAE’s position as a leader in sustainability and the green economy. Fully powered by solar energy, the center integrates advanced digital technologies with renewable energy systems, supporting the Dubai Clean Energy Strategy 2050 and the Dubai Net Zero Carbon Emissions Strategy 2050.
Spanning 100,000 square meters, the center will be developed in 10 phases, reaching a total capacity of 100 megawatts. The facility has already received Tier-III certification from the Uptime Institute, underscoring its dedication to operational excellence and reliability.

These services cater to digital transformation, smart city development, cyber security, and professional managed services.
The facility also positions Dubai as a global hub for sustainable ICT infrastructure, offering carbon-free computing solutions for hyper-scalers and enterprises aiming to reduce their environmental impact. By integrating solar energy and innovative storage technologies, the data center sets a standard for sustainable practices in the digital era.
As Dubai progresses toward achieving its clean energy and net-zero carbon goals, the Green Data Center stands as a beacon of innovation and sustainability. Combining cutting-edge technology with renewable energy, it serves as a critical enabler for a greener and more connected future.
