Dubai: Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA), led by HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD & CEO, welcomed 2025 with a comprehensive roadmap for integrating generative artificial intelligence (AI).
The strategic framework leverages Microsoft Copilot to enhance operational efficiency, improve customer satisfaction, and reinforce DEWA’s role as a pioneer in government innovation.
The announcement, attended by Marwan Bin Haidar, Executive Vice President of Innovation and The Future, and DEWA’s senior management, reflects the vision of HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, to stay at the forefront of technological advancements.
Al Tayer said that, “At DEWA, we anticipate and shape the future in alignment with the UAE National Strategy for Artificial Intelligence 2031, adopting cutting-edge digital solutions to boost the UAE’s competitiveness and create sustainable growth opportunities in the energy and water sectors.”
DEWA’s adoption of generative AI, including Microsoft Power Platform and Microsoft 365 Copilot, has elevated performance and productivity while enhancing customer and employee satisfaction.
DEWA began using AI in 2017 and was among the first utilities globally to implement Microsoft Copilot. It also pioneered the integration of ChatGPT to enrich customer experiences via digital platforms, including its virtual assistant, Rammas.
The utility has expanded generative AI applications to critical areas such as “Rammas for You” and “Rammas for Work,” information security, human resources, governance, compliance, financial data management, IT support services, and customer eservices.
Additional integrations include the SAP system, DEWA’s Evaluation Centre, future insights platforms, Power BI analytics, and LinkedIn Learning resources.
By integrating AI across its operations, DEWA reaffirms its commitment to innovation and digital transformation, ensuring sustainable progress in the energy and water sectors while maintaining its leadership in global technological advancements.
