Sharjah: Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Deputy Ruler of Sharjah and Chairman of the Sharjah Media Council, awarded Mr. Yahya Nadi from Egypt, with the title of the 14th edition of Sharjah Munshid program, held at Al Majaz Amphitheatre.
Mr. Abdullah Al Omari of Lebanon received second place for their outstanding performance, and Mr. Muhammad Al Wafi Idris of Libya received third place. The popular competition was organised by Sharjah TV, a channel founded by the Sharjah Broadcasting Authority (SBA), and included competitors from 12 Arab nations vying for the renowned Sharjah Munshid title.
The music talent show winner won an extraordinary financial prize of $54,460 (Dh200,000), and the second and third-place finishers each received equally remarkable amounts of $27,229.21 (Dh100,000) and $20,419 (Dh75,000), respectively.
Before announcing the winner of the Sharjah Munshid title, the attendees were presented with a number of performances from the top-six finalists, who won the admiration of the jury members by the level of their skills and showmanship, their abilities to switch between anasheed and melodies and their exquisite choice of lyrics and tunes.
The judges, Egyptian artist Mr. Mahmoud Al Tohamy, Tunisian artist Mr. Lotfi Bouchnak, and Emirati Munshid Ambassador Mr. Ahmed Bukhatir, praised the finalists’ performances for showcasing the beauty of this art form to the general public, along with all of its wonderful messages and values.
Sharjah Munshid program, which attracts more viewers every year, has served as a launch pad for the musical careers of several exceptional young vocal talents since its debut edition in 2006, under the directives of Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah. The competition aims to continuously enhance the arts and empower those who communicate a powerful message that reflects the authentic values of Arab culture.
