Abu Dhabi: The Department of Culture and Tourism Abu Dhabi (DCT Abu Dhabi) has launched and is accepting applications for the Berklee Abu Dhabi Fellowship Fund, aimed at offering emerging music industry professionals sought-after scholarships to study at Berklee Abu Dhabi, as well as at Berklee College of Music’s campuses in Boston, New York, Valencia, Spain, or at Berklee Online.
The fellowship, which allows students to pursue their passions abroad while advancing their education through the school’s cutting-edge programs, is open to applicants from the UAE, GCC, Middle East, North Africa, and South Asia (MENASA) region. To be eligible, students must have attended Berklee Abu Dhabi, the first Middle East outpost of the renowned college of music, and meet the standard requirements for admission to Berklee’s undergraduate, graduate, and summer semester programmes.
Scholarships will be awarded to students after a thorough evaluation and short-listing process.
Ms. Erica Muhl, President of the Berklee College of Music, said: “At Berklee, our vision is to create an interconnected ecosystem of campuses, centers, and partnerships around the world that foster and inspire new artistic expressions through educational programs, enterprises, and endeavours that serve both the broader Berklee community and the regional communities where these efforts will be underway.”
“Mindful that talent is universal but opportunity is not, the Berklee Abu Dhabi Fellowship Fund will provide significant pathways for talented students from across the Middle East, North Africa, and South Asia to participate in artistic education at the highest level, opening up limitless creative possibilities,” Mr. Muhl added.
Berklee Abu Dhabi offers a top-quality academic experience led by world-renowned artists and instructors with the aim to transform arts education in the Middle East and promote the region’s next generation of performing artists.
The fellowship fund reflects DCT Abu Dhabi and Berklee Abu Dhabi’s commitment to nurturing young musicians as well as industry professionals in the region, which in turn enhances the position of the emirate as a hub for music and cultural excellence.
