Abu Dhabi: The Department of Community Development (DCD) in Abu Dhabi, has assisted to develop the Domestic Workers’ Guide, which was unveiled by the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MoHRE).
The DCD provided help by creating a chapter on mental health for the manual that gave details on mental health and the factors affecting and improving the quality of life for domestic workers. The guide emphasizes the significance of putting procedures in place that increase the mental well-being of all community members, including domestic workers, in addition to the rights, benefits, and obligations of domestic workers, further assuring a beneficial influence on both physical and mental health.

The DCD will continuously collaborate with its strategic partners to improve the ecosystem of the social sector and implement programmes and services that are specifically designed to meet the needs of community members and provide them the necessary support to effectively handle mental stress. The ongoing initiatives by DCD and efforts to support mental health are consistent with the department’s responsibility to deliver high-quality services to all community segments in order to ensure the social welfare of the Abu Dhabi community.
Dr. Layla Alhyas, Executive Director of the Community Development Sector at DCD, remarked.
According to Dr. Alhyas, DCD is dedicated to encouraging efficient community participation in development and ensuring the community’s sustainable progress through the adoption of long-term strategic plans and the promotion of positive change in an effort to overcome all obstacles.
The Domestic Workers’ Guide covers a wide range of subjects in this category, including workload, acclimating to a new place and culture, and getting enough social time. The manual also emphasises a number of important topics, such as money management, working hours, and the value of getting adequate sleep for improving both physical and mental health.
The manual also provides guidance on how to properly handle all pertinent issues and offers self-care techniques for reducing life’s stresses, including maintaining a healthy diet, exercising when you have free time, planning downtime, engaging in family activities, turning to spirituality, and practising deep breathing.
The domestic workers’ law places a strong focus on maximising domestic workers’ safety and security throughout their stay in the UAE by guaranteeing the protection of their rights.
