Abu Dhabi: Bayanat, a pioneer in AI-powered geospatial solutions, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Vay, a pioneer in teledriving (remote driving) technology to revolutionize the autonomous vehicle industry. This partnership brings out innovative teledriving solutions to the Middle East, Africa, and select Asia Pacific markets.
This venture will establish a joint R&D arm focused on next-generation autonomous technology, combining Bayanat’s robust AI capabilities and Vay’s expertise in remote vehicle operation. This will mark Bayanat as a key player in the development of scalable, advanced mobility solutions, driving efficiency and safety in autonomous transportation.
Bayanat’s AI-driven platform, GIQ, plays a key role in enhancing Vay’s teledriving technology. GIQ’s integration of space and ground data improves situational awareness and decision-making for remote drivers, enhancing the overall driving experience. Vay’s unique teledriving system allows remote drivers to bring vehicles to customers’ doorsteps, after which users can drive themselves. Once the journey is complete, a remote teledriver parks or relocates the car, eliminating the need for users to find parking spaces.
Vay, the first company in Europe to implement teledriven vehicles on public roads without a safety driver, recently launched its service in Las Vegas, signaling a global expansion. The company’s teledriving service helps to offer affordable, sustainable door-to-door mobility at half the cost of traditional ride-hailing services, focusing on reducing urban congestion and environmental impact.
Bayanat, which plans to rebrand as Space42, views this partnership as important in tackling challenges related to teledriving and advancing the pace of innovation. Hasan Al Hosani, Managing Director of Bayanat explained that, “By combining our AI-powered smart mobility solutions with Vay’s cutting-edge teledriving technology, we aim to develop advanced, scalable mobility solutions that enhance transportation efficiency and foster safer, more sustainable urban mobility experiences.”
Vay CEO Thomas von der Ohe expressed enthusiasm about the collaboration, highlighting the potential for teledriving to enhance cost-effectiveness for fleet operations and improve the user experience through the integration of Bayanat’s AI-powered platform.
This partnership builds on Bayanat’s strategic initiatives to expand its AI-driven geospatial capabilities. The company was a key participant in DRIFTx 2024, an international platform for autonomous and sustainable mobility, where it declared several partnerships to advance smart mobility solutions.
With this collaboration, Bayanat and Vay are poised to deliver the charge in transforming the future of autonomous mobility, setting the stage for safer, smarter, and more efficient transportation systems globally.
